Lydia Puentes Philips
Lydia has been offering Spiritual Direction since 2003. She received her training through Christian Formation and Direction Ministries. She has also completed training as a Hospice Respite Caregiver through Sharp Hospice Care. In addition to offering one-on-one Spiritual Direction, she leads Reflective Retreats, co-facilitates the Contemplative Service at her church, and creates Prayer Rooms and Contemplative Spaces. Before following the call into Spiritual Direction, she received her BS in Animal Physiology from the University of California, San Diego and worked in Biotechnology and Psychopharmacology for nine years.
After being a stay-at-home mom to her two sons, Tyler and Nathanael, she pursued her interest in Art and Spanish, receiving her Associates Degrees in Art/Drawing and Spanish from Cuyamaca Community College. Her interest in art has led to numerous public art murals in the San Diego area, and she continues to explore working in glass mosaic, repurposed materials, and painting, both with oils and acrylic.
She currently lives in La Mesa with her husband, Clay. She enjoys working in her garden, reading, writing, Hula Hoop Dance classes, and taking walks with friends. She especially loves sunsets, waiting for that particular moment the sky turns her favorite color of indigo blue.
