Janet Hagen

Janet Hagen

Janet became aware of the desire to reach out to a spiritual companion after experiencing a time of loss, grief and emptiness. She had grown and changed spiritually, and needed help finding a new direction. She found a Spiritual Director on the San Diego Spiritual Direction website and moved forward. Having a Masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and a four-year certification in Body Psychotherapy, the desire was growing to compliment mind and body education with spiritual maturity: grounding in the assurance of God while opening to life more fully; a way to release the past, live in the present, and re-evaluate the future. Although she had gained many intern hours, Janet was led not to pursue licensure as a therapist, but to pursue the calling of Spiritual Director/Companion. In that pursuit she completed a two year program with Christian Formation and Direction Ministries (CFDM) and graduated in May of 2015.

As a result of her own varied journey, Janet is able to support a variety of faith traditions as well as women in transition. Her training is influenced by Ignatian Spirituality, Contemplative Prayer practices, and the body’s subtle yet discernible communication. Deeper awareness comes through the peaceful leading of the Holy Spirit - the only One who actually releases what is held, and gives what has been hidden.

Janet meets with females only, one-on-one, exclusively on Zoom. She has found Zoom a convenient yet meaningful way to connect in a safe environment. Her passion is learning ever more about the presence we call God; humans and the human condition; mystics and saints, and being present for the transformation only a higher power can bring.
